Ryedale Vineyards is one of the most northerly commercial vineyards in the United Kingdom and is a family run business in North Yorkshire, at the foot of the Yorkshire Wolds near to York and Castle Howard. We were voted one of the 12 best vineyards to visit and tour in England and Wales in 2019 and regularly win awards for our wines.
All aspects of wine production from pruning to harvesting to pressing, fermenting, bottling and labelling are carried out by hand in our converted cow byre. Jack our Winery Manager and entertaining Tour Guide was voted Wine Personality of the Year 2022.
Jack is our eldest son and joined the vineyard on graduating university. He is a proud Yorkshireman as you will find out as you are likely to have him as your tour guide when you visit the vineyard. As the Winery Manager he is passionate about the work we do here, he believes every vine is important and the care given to each one is reflected in the wine we make here.
He still prefers whisky on a Friday night.
Kit studied Art in Glasgow and although is temporarily working in New Zealand stealing secrets from a large vineyard in a certain Bay he will be returning to our slightly cooler vineyard later this year.
His photography skills help advertise the vineyard and he has (self-proclaimed) himself as regional marketing manager for Scotland and Northern Britain.
He is yet to sell a single bottle.
Jon & Michelle took over the vineyard by accident in 2016. Since then the vineyard and its produce has been expanded with a strongly held belief of working with nature to create a sanctuary for humans, grapes and animals alike.
Every vine has a name and is treated like a member of the family, but contrary to popular belief, they are not brought in the farmhouse during winter.
They do not drink as much wine as everyone thinks
When not flying the flag for English wines Border Collie Artie checks all cheese served on our tours is up to standard and is also responsible for clearing any dropped on to the grass. When he's not working hard he enjoys football, frisbee and attempting to get as much fox poo on himself as he possibly can
